Publication date: February 23, 2021

Blurb:

Kidnappers have taken their son.

Their only mission is to find him.

The moment his ex-fiancée tells him that he’s a father, military contractor Mike Spade is ready to make the commitment he’s always feared. Intelligence operative Summer Daniels is willing to give him another chance. Then their child is abducted. Mike and Summer both have enemies—and they both have unhealed hurts from their tempestuous romance. Can they overcome the past to save their son?

The latest installment in the STEALTH: Shadow Team starts out with a happier event than the first, however the joy doesn’t last long.  Mike Spade is attending the wedding of his brother Troy to Kate, but he can’t stop thinking about his former fiancee Summer and their broken engagement.  When he leaves immediately after the ceremony, he is astonished to find Summer in the parking lot waiting for him.  The news she brings him is even more shocking-they have a seven month old son named Joe.  After their painful breakup Summer had tried to tell him but Mike had refused her calls, lost in his guilt over leaving her at the altar.  However just after Mike gets the chance to finally meet his son, Joe is taken from Summer’s apartment.

As Mike and Summer race to find who might have taken their son and why, they have to face their own past and learn to trust each other again.  Only by working together will they be able to solve the mystery and bring Joe home safe and sound.  But what secrets will they uncover in their search?  (Well, at least one I didn’t see coming!)

While there wasn’t as much action as the previous STEALTH installments, there is an emotional heft to the story that fulfills my need for angsty goodness and I honestly hadn’t figured out who was behind the kidnapping until the eventual revelation.  I would absolutely recommend readers to start at the beginning of the STEALTH series, but “A Loaded Question” is a definite must in order to understand the story arc running through both books!
